I serioulsy cannot take any more cold weather, it's just like being at home! I could've saved myself so much money :OP Kaikoura is stunning, would be even more stunning if it stopped raining and the clouds lifted so I could see the snow capped mountains across the bay.
I got her yesterday morning after a 3 hour bus trip. I'm staying at the YHA here which is nice, cold though! I'm sharing a room with two exchange students who are very nice but so young, makes me feel old! I took a walk into town yesterday, which is a good 25 minutes. Stocked up on food and booked a trip. I came back to the hostel and decided to walk fruther up to the Seal Colony. It was a good 30 minute walk along the coast, which is so pretty, I could be in Devon! There were quite a few seals around, one had come across the car park and was snoozing in the bushes upside down so I managed to get quite close and have my picture taken. Another one was asleep on the small beach. I took the coastal path up the hill and walked across to the other side where I could see more seals, not so close though. Last night I got chatting to these wicked girls called Tracey and Sam from Oxford and we were chatting for hours, shame they left today!
Today I went whale watching again! The weather was rough, I swear every boat trip I have taken since being away has been the same so maybe I should just give up now?! Some people were sick, not nice when you can smell it and even feel the heat from it urgghh!! We saw two Sperm Whales, one of them twice. They were both males as the females and calves can't stay in the cold water. Males are always alone though so that's why we didn't see so many. We saw loads of Dusky Dolphins, they were swimming alongside the boat and dancing in the water, was really cool. Loads of birds, including the famous Wandering Albatross, saw tons of them and they are HUGE! So I was a successful trip but I am still so, so cold!
Not much planned for Wednesday, it's very quiet here as out of season still. I may go for another long walk, depends on the weather x x x x
