Hello, Katie again.
We have now left the perhentian islands :( and are sat in kaula besut which is where you get the boats to the islands from. we are spending 1 night in this tiny town so we can get on a bus tomorrow at 10 to go to cameron highlands for a couple of days. we have a very basic room for 20 rm. 4 pounds for both of us!
There is nothing to do here! the locals just seem to sleep all day and as its ramadam there arent many places open.
the locals on the island were nice, although sometimes seem like they really cant be bothered to be doing there jobs! when taking your order they sit at the table with you and when they bring your food they just put it down anywhere on the table even if youve said its your meal it will end up infront of the other!
they are very laid back about everything but thats there life, nothing to rush about.
where as some guests seem to getreally stroppy that theyre waiting for ages for food and more often than not 1 will have finished before the other arrives but thats ok.
Foods been ok most places offer a weston option which alex likes, such as burgers and fish and chips. for lunch its too hot to eat much so its just salads really. been trying to eat the local food a bit when i know what it is! fried rice and chiken, satay chicken. those sorts of things. the only thing iv managed to find that alex likes is chicken fried rice! its a start.
not met any other people yet. its been quite hard. not alot of english and if they are they are older couples like 30+ on holiday not travelling.
will fill you in more on what cameron highlands is like when we get there, if theres internet!
Ps. i wasnt charged the extra time the other night when the battery died :)
love to everyone
