Hello,
this is our last post from laos as tonight we are heading back to thailand. Luang prabang is very nice, very small and not much to do. yesterday we went on a tuk tuk for 45 mins to an amazing waterfall. Half way there it began to rain and thunder so we were wet by the time we arrived. we walked up the trail folowing the waterfall past the pools and smaller falls lower down. got to the main waterfall and it was huge. there was a path leading tothe top which was very steep and slippy but we made it up to see the view. alex waded out to the centre wheer you could see he view across the valley and down the falls. the hardest bit was coming down. took twice as long. on our way back to the tuk tuk we stopped at one of the pools and jumped off the rope swing. very cold but good fun. alex even jumped in off one of the small falls. all very safe before you get worried.
spent the evening looking around the huge market that takes up an entire street every night selling allsorts. slippers, chopsticks, tablecloths, masks, notebooks and loads more. quite a sight.
As i said this is our last day and we are trying to spend it in cool places so we dont get too hot before we have to get on the bus tonight. we have booked an over night bus which takes us from luang prabang to houei xai, this takes 15 hours so we leave at 7 and get there at 10 am tomorrow. from there we get on a minibus that takes us oer the border and then onto chiang mai. this takes another 7 hours so we should get there at around 5 tomorrow. it is not going to be fun but at least it gets us there and we can celebrate my birthday after a good nights sleep! yay.
speak to you on saturday xx
ps there are photos of the rope swing up now too
