Have arrived in our first destination, Siem Reap in Cambodia, I am very in love with the place already, the people are so friendly and the landscape absolutely stunning. Today we visited the temples - the famous Angkor Wat, which we got up at 4.30 to view at sunrise, totally worth it, some of the best views i have ever seen and some amazing photos came out of that visit - will put them on to the site as soon as possible and describe in more detail.
The ta prom temple where they filmed tomb raider was also incredible, the trees have managed to take roots in the rooves of the temple and, being hundreds of years old they have massive roost winding their way down amongst the now crumbling stones, making for a pretty out of this world experience. Couldn't believe I was there really, was very sureal but an amazing day. After twelve hours we were all templed out and headed back to the guesthouse (Rosy, would recommend it!) They have a water festival taking place in the town and walking into the bars tonight we were treated to the final ceremony, they float thousands of candles down the river in these little paper boats, we think it is some kind of ritual or good luck charm but the river looked so pretty, all lit up with these candles, we bought one and a little cambodian boy waded in to put it in the stream with the others - the children are adorable, you get besieged at the temples with them attempting to sell you stuff but they are so sweet you can't be annoyed. Very persistent salesmen as well!
Thats all for now, will try to put on the photos soon and will go into more details about the tempoles then, is so interesting. Hope everyone back home is well, leave me messages please!!
