Katie:
Thought I would update you all on the rest of what we have done in Shanghai...
The following day we met up with our group leader and fellow China travellers after Arber dragged me to see Spiderman 3 in a chinese cinema...can you believe it? It was an experience at least..!
The rest of our group are really lovely they are a combination of fellow Brits, Australians and New Zealanders. The age range is quite large with the youngest being in their early 20's and the eldest being in the early 60's...but I do have to say the guy & his wife who are 64 are the funniest people and by far the most up for anything! Our tour guide is a lovely Chinese woman whose English nickname is 'Olive' as she looks like Popeye's girlfriend..she is so sweet and absolutely hilarious. We went for our first group dinner that night where we tried so many different types of food & I can honestly say I tried everything!
The following day we went to the Shanghai museum where Arber made me read absolutely everything! It was quitea cool building with lots to see...From there we went to the 'Old Town' which was really lovely and quaint with typically old Chinese style buildings. Arber bought a Chinese 'Chop' which is an ancient style chinese stamp with both our names engraved in it in Chinese which is really cool.
The evening of that night we went to the Shanghai acrobatics show which was absoultely amazing and breathtaking! The acts were completelty crazy from 12 girls on one bicycle and 4 motorcycles riding around ina massive sphere aptly named the ball of death..
The weather in Shanghai was really lovely with clear skys so we decided to take a Metro to the otherside of the river where we went to the Jin Mao tower and went to the viewing point on the 88th floor to see a panaramic view of the city - it is an unbelievably built up city.
After getting a returning ferry across the river we checked out of our hotel ready to depart Shanghai....
Arber:
ok my turn again first things first spiderman 3 was pooh!! and not even because of the headache inducing fuzzyness of the cinema, but enough about that back to the reason why we arehere SHANGHAI this city is mad the metro system presented a bit of trouble as hardly anything is written in written chinese its all in symbols but we managed it in the end, the Museum the next day was cool with a suprising western art exhibition with all the big names!! katie bless her followed me round even though she was absolutly bored rigid "seen one bronze age pot seen'em all!" the dinner was fantastic the food here is rich and varied and absolutley scrummy!!! - the weirdest thing i saw was a full blown security truck cross the road likea pedestrian!!! - we have gotten to know this city very well and knew our way round pretty dam well!! (WE ONLY GOT LOST ONCE) My chop was pretty cool and the man made it for us by hand in 5 minutes.... you know what its been only three days since shanghai and we have done soo much its hard to recall eveything!!!!
see you guys in the nest exciting installment!!.
