Off to Colombia again, this time with Ween. Trying not to look too much like a menopausal fatty, I don my Velcro strap shoes with cushioned inner soles and ready myself for the terminal. My aim was to lose 1 stone before this trip - on jumping on the scales, only 1 stone 3lbs to go! FFS.People may have noticed that my current roller coaster of hormonal cocktails is making me a little imbalanced as well as porkier. After furiously accosting a burglar a few months ago in the middle of the night, I can just imagine the obituary - Katie stabbed to death, her last words were Feck Off!! ( Not being polite here, this blog won’t accept swear words). Spurred on by working mainly on construction sites, packing my bag, I again sounded like all I know is the word feck. This hasn’t been helped by the fact I can only take 10kg for the internal flights and want at least 3 or 4kg of that spare for painted pottery aeroplanes with chickens popping their heads out of the windows. This means that about all I have been able to put in my bag is another pair of Velcro sandals, some hippie trousers for my younger moments and a couple of pairs of knickers.
Most folk in Reading are familiar with people walking around looking like they need sectioning but the people of Colombia are all Shakira lookalikes and I’m beginning to feel a bit self conscious. Ween is used to me looking a bit odd nowadays not helped by hot flushes where only my scalp sweats, but I think I need to up my game a bit. There will be only so many places I will be able to stick my hair under a hand dryer.
We’ll be going back to a lot of places I went to last time and I’m looking forward to reacquainting myself with the dead nuns and Miss Worlds painted on pavements. Ween has all this joy to look forward to as well as other delights such as Medellin with its migraine-inducing World Famous Christmas Lights and a town specialising in painting pottery aeroplanes with chickens in. Viva el pollo!! I can’t wait.
