This was a very relaxing day. I really only had riding on a camel left, but it wasn't worth going into town for this (particularly when we didn't know where it was). So we stayed at Shaun's for the day: had lunch at a local restaurant (Shakespeare's), baked afghans :p (yep, still bake when overseas), then all the excitement began in the evening! Kiwi Ball time!!! Here I touched the tip of the ice berg of how these people live.
Flashy dresses, smart suits, open bar, (Botox here and there) - the start of a recipe to a good night! You come to see how small of a world this is when a person sitting at your table starting training with someone from your upcoming company. I met a chief pilot for Emirates (top as you can get) who gave me his card! :O he knows someone I'll be working with next year and wanted to pass on a "hello". I'm calling that my top contact right now :D
Drinking, dancing, mingling: it was great fun and refreshing to be in such a place, surrounded by such people, and not know anyone (next to no one at least).
The night ended around 1, got to bed around 2, and woke up around 5 to pack and leave. That's one way to fight a hangover! I was sad to leave, but incredibly excited to go back to the UK and spend time with my family. The journey continues...
