The nine week adventure has begun! After a 19 ish hour long flight (good food, comfy seats, minimal sleep), I landed in Dubai with Shaun on Monday morning at 5.15am. This city is HUGE! Everything is large, extravagant and done in the "best way". On my first day here, Shaun and I spent the day at the Dubai Mall. Sure that doesn't sound like much, it's a mall, shops, what's new? But it's massive! Think easily 20 times the size of Sylvia Park shopping mall and you MAY be close. There's an indoor aquarium and underwater zoo, a Hershey's World (yup I was drooling in there) and a fashion avenue with all the top designer brands (we may have walked into a shop that had a princess or other important person in there). There's even an Armani Caffe!
The lifestyle of this place would be so easy to fit in to. Everything is at your fingertips, and you can afford anything. To the people here, money is no object.
Dinner was shwarmas (excuse the spelling) on a picnic rug in the desert! I managed to see two stars in the vast night sky, barely see the moon, and gladly, no scorpions! However when leaving, we got stuck in the sand and spent 30 minutes trying to get out. I at least now know how to get out of sand dunes if I ever get stuck again in the future :)
