We survived our night in the murdery hotel! Went to see what the free breakfast was and opted to skip it. We started our morning with a trip to Magnetic Hill to witness the magic that is gravity. I remember visiting when I was younger, and it was just as cool now. Especially since I was the driver this time. From there we headed for Halifax which is about a three hour drive. Took a quick pit stop in Oxford to see the big blueberry! And were again on our way.
We made it to Halifax for noon which seemed to be prime lunch traffic time. With some difficulty we navigated through the bizarre Halifax streets and went to Tony's for a Donair. (Place was recommended by a Haligonian). It took about 10 minutes to get the Donair and it did not impress me as much as I thought. Some people claim that they are better than shawarmas, and those people would be wrong.
We ate beside the Emera Oval and giant shoe lace statue before visiting the Citadel. First time using my 2017 Parks Canada Discovery Pass for a very cool walk around the historic Citadel! From there we checked into our room at Dalhousie University and headed for a walk to the Harbour front.
- Went on the coolest tour of the Alexander Keith's Brewery, lots of samples, music and laughs!
- Took the ferry to and from Dartmouth for an inexpensive boat cruise and beautiful view of Halifax!
- Visited the Halifax Distillery Co. on a whim. Did a rum tasting which was surprisingly quite enjoyable.
- Enjoyed a late dinner at The Stubborn Goat. Striploin, potatoes and Brussels sprouts from heaven.
Then we cabbed home to get some rest before our drive to the ferry the next day.
