Our Asian leg began the squeaky clean Singapore; a country where one can have their legs chopped off for crossing the road at the wrong place, or beheaded for chewing gum.
Thankfully we survived it relatively unscathed. If not a little hot and bothered - humidity = frizz and sweat. Not the most attractive combo - only 9 weeks of it (!)
We spent time moseying around the city and also indulged in a little alternative therapy - some kind of ionised foot spa. The water turns different colours according to your health and ailments. We were getting concerned when Leah's was going almost black, the locals were sniggering at her and pointing saying 'poisonous'. Turns out she's not about to kark it, although does have some liver damage - quelle surprise. I got off slightly more lightly - just have some joint and digestion issues.
Of course, during our brief visit we had to indulge in an (overpriced) Singapore Sling at the famous Raffles hotel. Which turned into 3. We were very fortunate, however, to meet an American guy who was quite frankly lonely and had a huge expenses account. Slings straight on it, as well as a slap up Indian meal. Very kind of him indeed.
Also, another man plied us with alcohol in an attempt to get us drunk - but most of you know this one so all above board unfortunately! Yes, Dan Jarman as most of you know is living out here, we showed him the sights where we were staying, then he showed us the nice bits and a thoroughly good time was had by all. So thanks Dan, and hope you got to work ok as we parted at 4am on a school night!
So, hungover, we boarded the 8 hour train to Kuala Lumpur. Nice.
Til then, Katherine xxx
