River Valley to Wellington
We departed River Valley just before lunch so that we could stop off for something to eat in the town of 'Bulls'. Again, another quirky town, whereby here the locals obviously have far too much time on their hands. The reason I say this is because the town is renowned for its shop names, for example the Police Station is named 'Consta-Bull'?! Sad huh? Unfortunately, or fortunately however you want to look at it, there are many more names where that one came from!
The rest of the drive to Wellington was dominated by the Ruahine (rua-he-nee) and Tararua (Tara-rua) Ranges and rolling farmland. Did you know that Wellington, like San Francisco, is located directly on a major earthquake fault? An interesting fact i thought worth a mention.
By the time we arrrived in Wellington there was only time to enjoy the nightlife - and seeing as the Rugby &'s were on in town that weekend, there was a lot of nightlife and a lot of costumes! - Everyone seems to dress up for the matches and their night on the town, so its like one bif fancy dress party! Not sure why they do it, but it was quite amusing for us to see and admire.
