Switzerland is a very beautiful place. Expensive, and not much to do at night, but really pretty. We travelled to Interlaken, a town just out of lauterbrunnen where we had booked accommodation earlier. Little did we know, we had booked with the mother of all cat ladies (or la chat ladies as they call them in france). The whole place smelt like mouldy cat pee and the woman couldn't remember the last few words we were saying to her let alone our booking, so we took it as a sign to find some place better. Just down the street was a better place where we had dinner and a place to sleep before heading to lauterbrunnen the next day.
It's hard to describe this place, it's in a valley surrounded by mountains, many of them high enough to still be covered in snow in the middle of summer. There are little waterfalls that come out of straight cliff faces all over the place that people base jump off. If I came back here I would love to go paragliding, it looked like good fun and perfect location! The grass in the valley is as green as green with cows (hoisted with their cow bells) clinging away. The water is aqua blue in all the rivers and lakes, but is freezing cold!
I tried a rosti for dinner which tasted like a big cheesy hash brown, and chocolate fondu for dessert :)
We stayed in a really cool chalet that overlooked everything. Its a good place to unwind which I think we needed it after all the traveling over the last few days.
