We arrived in Amsterdam around 8, it was a huge drive from Berlin. Amsterdam has a lot of potential to be an amazing city sans the red light district which makes it a very seedy place. There are canals that weave throughout the whole city and everyone rides bikes because it's so flat everywhere. The buildings in the center are all old but cute, though a lot are leaning quite severally (were the builders stoned when they built them?.. Probably).

We went for a bike tour the next day and rode around the city which was cool, bikes only have to give way to trams here. The red light district is very seedy. I found out where the xxx symbol comes from though, apparently it was the mark of Amsterdam, and each x represents a tragedy that has struck the city; fire, flood, and famine. The mark was put on any porn that was coming into the city and was misrepresented to become the symbol for the sex industry. Our tour guide was stoned when we were on our tour, however he was still quite amusing and interesting!

We went to an all you can eat Chinese restaurant for dinner followed by a canal cruise, (One guy on the tour thought it would be a good idea to eat a space cake before dinner and he didn't quite make it to the cruise...) For the rest of us though, the cruise was a good way to end the topdeck tour.
