This is my favorite place so far! If I know anyone that is traveling to Italy I would highly recommend that they must visit this place, it is beautiful!! We got pretty excited as we were on the train and came out of a tunnel to see never ending sea. We hadn't been to any areas on the beach or near the sea yet.
Cinque Terre is made up of 5 villages that are along the coastline positioned within the cliffs. Very cool, and all vibrant with different colored buildings. There's a walking track where you can walk between all 5 villages that take between 20 to 90 minutes each.
As we started walking along, we got to a little cove where people were swimming and sunbaking. So we followed suit, the water was amazing, really deep and clear. I would have loved to stay in there all day! But because we only had one day here we kept moving. Between the next 2 towns it took over an hour and it was very hilly, definitely should have opted for some better shoes than sandals. Henry was in a worse state though, his feet were sore and blistered before we even went on the walk, so he didn't enjoy it much. However, in saying this, the views were amazing, the walk (in my eyes) was really fun and well worth the pain my legs will probably be in tomorrow. We swum again at a beach in the next town, and then at the last town we had dinner. People are a lot more nicer here then other places we've been to in Italy, and all the tourists are always up for a yarn. (the place is dominated by Australians and Americans).
I tried wine (called coop) from the region which was delicious, I also recommend that to anyone that goes there! (you should go there). Our only dampener on the trip is that we got slogged with a €50 fine twice, once because the ticket machine was broken and we couldn't get one, and the second time because we couldn't find the box to validate a ticket we brought a month ago online. It was pretty s*** to get a fine when we weren't really doing something wrong, but at least we got to split them between the 5 of us instead of getting one each, and when it was me and henry it was 25 each. It still hurt a lot though :(
