So, since the bus trip from Mendoza to Pucon was ridiculously long and we certainly weren't up for another long trip, we decided to spend another night in Santiago. Our hostel was amazing here and we spent the afternoon opp shopping and relaxed that night with a delicious veggie pasta and a movie.
The next day we were up with the birds and packed up yet again to begin our journey to Pucon. In reality we really didn't know too much about this particular destination except for the fact that it was in the Chilean Andes, alot colder and pretty quiet. So with that in mind, we really didn't know what to do there. When we arrived, we were treated with an amazing sunset that graced the lake with reflective colours and an amazing Volcano backdrop that topped them all. When we checked into our hostel we were amazed to see that there was a blackboard FULL of activities ranging from volcano hikes, bungy jumping, paragliding, rafting, hot thermals, giant swing, sky dinving, a little somehting called hydro speed which is pretty much boogy boarding down the rapids of the river....and the list goes ooooonnnnn. So of course after seeing this our spirits were on the possibilties!! UUUNnnnnnnfortunately our wallet only allowed a certain amount of spending. SO, rafting and hot springs it was!!
The next day, we organized the rafting for the following day but as it was low season it was either that day or never. And as the hot springs were quite late at night, we decided it was more practical to squeeze both activities into the one day. So, at 3pm we were picked up to conquer those rapids!! Well, it would apprently be that Lex and I were the only ones in the boat (along with the guide) to be conquering these rapids however there were 4 others who were doing the hydro speed. The river was absolutely beautiful...clear waters, tranquil vibe and the almost vacant presence that made us feel we were the only ones to ever ride that river. The rapids weren't too crazy but we enjoyed it all the same. At the end we jumped in the river which was absolutely FREEZING but so refreshing it was worth it.
We were dropped back to the hostel, and in a quick hour we were picked up to be whisked away to the natural hot springs. We had a couple of wines before hand so we were a little toasty by the time we arrived. We walked down a thousand stairs and finally arrived to the many pools of volcanic heated water that we quickly fell into and soothed our bodies. As it was so late, we could lie on our backs and gaze up at the stars through the steam of the water. It came time to leave and the only down side was walking back up those bloody stairs!!!
The next day, after a hot spring enduced sleep, we enjoyed checking out the lake with a couple of beers and strolling the town.....and possibly a little bit of shopping.....its so damn hard with all the gorgie markets!!! That night we dueled agin in chess and for the first time I WON and Lex LOST hahaha.....I'm still not convinced that it was purposeful. He swears it wasn't..Hmmmmm.
The next day Nequen was on the horizon......or was it???

Neryl Graham Sounds like a great place to stay for a while - if you have the money to indulge in all the activities.
