Shalom from Krabi!!!!
Hey everyone!! Sara here again, thought we would update you on what we have been upto so far. currently we are in Railay Bay, Krabi on the west side of the gulf of Thailand, and the picture you can see is where we went for a little wander today..such a hard life..
So we left Koh Samui after a couple of wicked days, a couple of dodgy hangovers and after meeting some great people. we've met people from all over the place, two lads from Birmingham, two lovely Israeli lads (so now kate and i are fluent in Hebrew) 3 great Irish girls and a wicked Aussie guy who we're hoping to meet up with in Sydney.
We were loving Samui and didn't particularly want to leave but thought we should really get out of our little 'beer and buckets' bubble and head off to do something cultural..so we headed off to Koh Phangan, about an hours boat ride from Samui. We had every intention of doing cultural things but the lure of the pool parties. half moon raves, Thai Massages and cheap Chang kept us from seeing or doing anything worth a mention on here! Also the weather has been absolutely rubbish, so has stopped us really from doing anything interesting. After Phangan we plodded on over to Koh Tao which is a diving resort but we had heard through the grape vine that it was pretty good...however as it was full of dive clubs it was pretty expensive to stay so we ended up in the first hostel of our trip....we thought things were going well when one of our roomies was a bloke from Chichester (yes, really!!) but unfortunately he walked around with his head up is bum so that was never going to work! we went out for a couple of drinks and headed back to bed at around 2.30am, and our lovely roomies decided that we were very boring for sleeping and kept us up all night until about 8am chatting and b****ing. they just werent particularly nice people so we decided to make a swift exit out of Koh Tao and make our way over to the west side.
We booked an 8 hour night boat from Koh Tao to Surat Thani (on the main land) and then a 3 hour bus journy from Surat to Krabi. We thought this was a fantastic and a very clever idea of us, saving a days travelling. however, on arrival at the Pier, we realised we were about to board to boat to our deaths as the sea was so choppy, the boat was literally rocking so far side to side it left Kate and I quivering in our flip flops. On board the boat, we were packed in a steaming hot room with tiny, dirty mattresses to lay/die/have a panic attack on and off we chugged for 8 hours toward the mainland and for the first 2 or 3 hours Kate and I basically clutched each others hands tight enough to cut off the blood supply until finally the sea evened out a little bit and we were able to get a couple of hours kip. i was too scared to have any sort of human conversation with Kate so she struck up convo with a lovely lad called Gareth from Brighton who was travelling by himself, who came over to Krabi with us.
So this is where you find us now, with a new found phobia of boats, in the beautiful Railay Bay, where for the first time in 2 weeks we've actually done something cultural! this island is unbelievable, with caves and lagoons and little nooks and crannies to explore. we went walking around today and found the beach you can see in the picture, and the view is so breathtaking we didnt want to leave...but of course it started raining AGAIN! So thats why we decided to come to the internet cafe and update you on our movements. our apologies for not really having anything good to talk about, hangovers arent really that interesting!!
we are hoping to go island hopping tomorrow, but it all depends on the weather at the moment. after Krabi we are going over to Phi Phi, maybe Koh Lanta and they Phuket, so im sure we will update you again soon.
thanks for all the lovely messages, keep them coming we miss you all!!!
Sawaddi Ka for now,
lots of love
Sara and Kate xxxx
