The last few days have been immense! Or as all the ozzies seem to say awesome! We have been whale watching in Hervey Bay, Sunshine Coast. It was amazing to see the humpbacks in the Bay on their migration. Most of the pods we saw were mother and baby calfs. They were sooooo big, words can describe it but I may download some of carls pictures to show you guys though we did end up with lots of photos that just look like water! Anyway we sailed out into the habour on a catamaran and spent 8 hours at sea. We saw lots of whales and they came right up to the boat. Lots of whale tails (check out Vikkis bum tattoo for a rough appoximation of what we saw) and the baby whales did lots of leaps out of the water. An incredible experience. Definately going to see the Sperm whales in Kaikoura, New Zealand as we have a taste for whale watching now.
Whilst we were on the sunshine coast we had to of course check out Steve Irwins zoo. We have taken lots of cheesy photos with his bronze statues that are all over the park. Carl and I even visited the mighty Crocoseum where the late steve used to put on his shows. We had to make do with a very loud aussie called Mark who still thought that CROCS RULE! Got to see lots of parrots/koalas/dingos and more bloody roos as well. We will post those photos soon.
Covered another 1000kms so that is at least 2500km we have done now and we are now settled in our latest caravan park in Brisbane. This pikey caravanning thing is quite appealing, Carl and I are looking for a place in Rover Way when we get back. Anyway Brisbane is not built for city driving in our bus so we are using the public transport but it is pretty cool as 1 ticket works for buses, ferries and trains so it is quite exciting crossing the river! Lots of sightseeing to do today. We have a few days as a stopover but then we are heading down the Gold coast mid week so we will keep you posted.
Love you all
Kat & Carl
