Of Killarney, new adventures awaited me! First up: The blarney stone. Now, all I knew about the Blarney Stone was that my grandfather once kissed it and then proceeded to break his toe on the stairs down the castle… so I didn't have the highest of hopes to be fair.
Blarney castle is outrageously beautiful, with as many creepy dungeons and caverns as possible, and a tiny house for dogs- I was in love. What is truly bizarre though is imagining people living in the castle. We walked through bedrooms, living rooms, sleeping quarters galore. It's hard to imagine a loving house settled in what now appears to be a giant stone monument. Was there love in the castle? Giant balls and parties? I can only hope this castle in all it's (sort of creepy) beauty was a loving home to the family that lived there… until they built a more modern home out back in the garden! What a life!
Now… I know what you all want to hear about… THE BLARNEY STONE. It was terrifying. First, you had to lay underneath it and have a man slide you up and under a wall while holding onto two parallel bars. WHAT?! The stone itself was cold, smooth and full of the promise of 100 years of good luck. I myself hope to reap the benefits of eloquence that the stone provides the Irish people, and just maybe I will… I'll let you know tomorrow. Either way I didn't break my toe on the stairs so I'm fending better than Grandpa at least!
After Blarney, we headed over to Dublin! I proceeded to have the most incredible Irish stew, and possibly the most incredible meal of my life. Jenny decided to forgo her vegetarian lifestyle upon sight of the stew, and truly, I love her for that.
Amy and Tierra are slowly becoming really incredible friends, which is surprising since I barely knew them before the trip! We all have plans to explore Dublin together tomorrow, and I hope we keep seeing each-other, since we get along so well!
