Karli and Nessy's Adventures
OK, Thailand, Surat Thani is a port town, nothing there so we just hung around for a few days waiting to get rid of Becky :oP after we said goodbye to her, Ness and I set off on our travels to Koh Pha Ngan for the Full Moon party, we had to get a "slave boat" which is actually the Night Boat but it looks exactly like the boats we we learnt about in history, for when they were bringing the slaves over from Africa to America. We had no sleep and discussed the fact that as there were no safety barriers if someone fell off they would never be seen again... its OK, both Ness and I are still alive.
The Full Moon party was amazing, we arrived at 7.30 and danced non stop until 4am on the beach, in the sea and on very precarious tables, was a lot of fun, although we were extremely tried and sandy the next day and somehow covered in grazes!
From here we were going to go to Koh Tao but because it rained the whole time we were in Koh Pha Ngan we didn't really see the point of doing another island, so we headed up to Bangkok by Night Train. This was really kewl, because it was all bunk beds when we got on but when I woke up all the bunk beds had disappeared and it looked like a normal train ( I did wonder if I had somehow moved trains but quickly realised this was ridiculous) We met up with Ness' friends and arrived in Bangkok on Ko San Rd. Although this is the most touristy backpacker area in Bangkok, its really lively and we've wandered up and down the street buying our dinner from the stalls and dancing through the night at the bars.
Iain, Ness' friend is even better at Dan for doing stupid things, because we don't have to bribe him, there was a stall selling all types of bugs and we asked Iain to eat some maggot type caterpillar bugs, he did, and Ness and I cringed watching him do it, and enjoy them too :oS
Today we went to sort out our flights home, yes we are actually coming home! and then wandered in Japanese town as far as we could tell, this is like china town as in everything is written in Japanese and all the restaurants are Japanese, we found some food stalls and had some really nice lunch and then headed off to Wat Pho to see the reclining Buddha. This was a fantastic sight as its 30 feet long and has mother of pearl inset into its feet, we wandered around the temple complex although it was interesting there was a lot of scaffolding and loose bricks and things around which kind of took away the wow factor, we haven't been to the Grand Palace because apparently its even worse than Wat Pho because it has even more building works. After this we got a Tuk-Tuk back to the hostel and have been bumbling about since.
We are going to head to the central plains of Thailand tomorrow,
Mwah Karli, Ness (and Iain)
