Happiness Is The Road
We had both tried to get some sleep on the ferry but it wasn't easy as the seats although big weren't particularly comfy. I had more success than Jay. The Captain gave everybody an alarm call over the intercom at just after 5 as we would be needing to make our way down to the car deck at about quarter to six. The whining woman was up now and whining again. When Jay came round the first thing she saw was the whining woman with one of her breasts nearly out! It had a tattoo on it. Although alarming this sight wasn't traumatic enough to put Jay off her breakfast! When the call to proceed to the car deck came we made our way and were happy to see the camper waiting for us. We just waited patiently then to drive off, full of excitement. We didn't have to wait too long and before we knew it we were driving down the ramp and onto Tasmanian soil. We had to go through the checkpoint on the way out. A very nice lady was checking that no one had any fruit, veg, fish etc. She asked to look in our fridge and then with a smile said 'too easy' and we were off into Tas! It was half six now and as we were out of fruit and veg we decided to go and stock up. We were outside Woolworths at 7 when they opened and were one of the first people in. On the way we had driven along the other side of the wharf and got some good photos of the ship docked in Tasmania. After getting our shopping we drove to a beach in Devonport, parked up by the sea and had breakfast. We were absolutely shattered and suffering from ferry lag! After brekky we went for a walk along the beach. It was a great beach with loads of pebbles. After this we drove to a town just up the coast called Penguin where we had decided to stop for our first night on Tasmania. Penguin is a cute little place with a really cute name. We went to Penguin Caravan Park and got a really lovely quiet spot overlooking the ocean. We just chilled here for the rest of the day.
