Happiness Is The Road
We had another peaceful night at Depot Beach. We woke up to the sight and sounds of all the wonderful wildlife here. Whilst having breakfast we saw the kangaroos grazing on the lawn and we were visited by the kookaburras and the parrots. This was a very magical place. We decided not to go very far today. We liked the look of another camp site a bit further down the coast and still within the Murramarang National Park at a place called Pretty Beach. It didn't take us long to drive there. The camp are at Pretty Beach wasn't quite as idyllic as at Depot Beach but it was still very nice and it had the benefit of having a lot of powered sites. The reception was closed so we found a good site as far away from others as possible and went to pay later. We chose a site with a fire pit so we could get the wood crackling later. There didn't seem to be as much wildlife here but shortly after we got there a huge goanna came ambling by. It found Jay to be in it's way and there was a bit of a stand off before Jay out scared the goanna and it trotted off. It was a bit hairy for a moment as we weren't sure if the goanna was going to charge! But no worries as goannas are pretty peaceful creatures. We then went for a walk to see the beach. It was quite a pretty beach but not as pretty as Depot Beach. Whilst there we saw kangaroos right down near to the beach. We never get tired of seeing kangaroos and we watched them for ages. We had a lovely leisurely tea and then sat by our roaring fire, chatting and laughing. Sadly there were no visits from cute possums tonight.
