Well here we are in Budapest on the evening of Saturday 23 July and I'm typing the final blog for this trip.
As planned we arrived in Budapest yesterday albeit later than anticipated. It rained off and on all through the day, not heavy but enough to prevent easy ma reading. The path was rough but interesting with stretches back alongside the river.
We had camped Thursday night in a private B&B with lovely people who spoke no English but with whom we were able to communicate ok.
I had been taking a course of pain killers since my crash back in Austria and took the last tablet Thursday. I wasn't prepared for how bad I'd feel coming off the pills. All day Friday I suffered a headache and lethargy. Sandi really enjoyed the slower pace but I felt pretty crook. It meant that I felt exhausted when we got here which didn't really present a true picture of the ride. It's really quite pleasant, not a marathon at all.
Having said that I am somewhat proud to say I cycled close to 900 km and Sandi cycled almost 700 km over the past couple of weeks. Not bad for a bloke who turns 51 tomorrow.
This ride was a bit of an experiment to see how we would go touring on bicycles. Well we can, and it has it's benefits. Sandi is hooked on the idea so we might have to try it again some time.
Well that's it for now, I have a long way to fly tomorrow so will sign off now.
Thanks for reading my blogs, all being well I will do another trip before too long.
Regards Jeff
