Brussels has been another nice surprise. We weren't expecting much here, but it's turned out to be great! A little weird, though, and Belgians themselves admit that Brussels is quite eccentric. It's an unusual mix of lots of Europe....they speak French, the sidewalk cafes look Italian, they're obsessed with food, the architecture looks more Eastern European in parts than Western, and then there's the most famous statue in the city....it's a little boy peeing. SO strange! The food and drink here is fantastic - we ate waffles with chocolate and bananas from a sidewalk vendor, the beer is great, and the chocolate is amazing! They eat fries here with mayonnaise on top, and it's awesome! We also found the BEST Thai food! We are both huge fans of Thai food, and this restaurant had the best we've ever had. Who would have thought that we'd find it in Brussels?! The most exciting part of Brussels was probably finding a bottle of wine for 1.69....we've been looking in grocery stores around Europe for the cheapest wine and this one wins! The first few sips were actually painful, but after a while it wasn't so bad!
