We spent a day in Greymouth, just wandering about the town. We finally bought a cable so that we can play the iPod through our van rather than have a crackly radio and hear the same few songs over and over again. I'm finding that radio in New Zealand mainly consists of UK pop circa 2005. Once again, we spent a good portion of our day in the supermarket and then headed off north towards Picton.

We had a full day left before having to catch the ferry, this was supposed to be a completely full day of seeing Marlborough Sounds and wandering through the wine region. However, we got up early and did the drive through the Sounds, which only took us an hour. There were walks and things but we decided not to do them, thinking that we wouldn't have enough time. From what we did see though, it was really pretty, better than Milford I thought, as it was green and not surrounded by towering grey cliff faces. We drove over to Blenheim and thought about booking onto a wine tour for the afternoon, but after looking at the prices and not really understanding what you got for your money, other than transport and then figuring that we don't really know anything about wine, in the slightest, we gave it a miss. Instead, we parked up in a holiday park and spent the afternoon sampling the beers and ciders of Blenheim. We had a nice chilled afternoon, then treated ourselves to a Dominos (a large pizza for $6!) and returned to our van. An extra treat for the day was to go to the cinema. I finally got to see Harry Potter! It was a very exciting time. As I'm probably the last person to have seen it, I won't bore you even more with going on about how good it was.

It was then the day to leave the South island. We had a bit of a lie in and then headed over to the ferry where it was a bit confusing with all the queues and then boarded a rather posh looking boat.
