Today we were treated to an amazing breakfast by Alex and his family: fried banana and then to follow was fish, rice and salad - to much food but very delicious. Philippine culture is all about food and they claim to eat very basic but compared to back home they cook and put a great amount of effort in to breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Alex dropped myself and Lorenzo at the bus station and we caught a local bus out to the Chocolate Hills - what a mission 2 hours on a jam packed and very slow moving chicken bus. I could barely keep my eyes open and must have fallen asleep 3 or 4 times. We arrived paid entrance fees and made our way up to the viewing platform ontop of one of the chocolate hills. The view was nice but nothing spectacular unfortunately. Next we made our way to the Tarsier conservation camp. This was a little more interesting and we were able to view about 6 or 7 tarsiers - Asia's smallest primates or tiny little monkeys. The rain unfortunately came down hard whilst we were walking around looking at the tarsiers but it didn't stop us enjoying the interactions. We made our way back to the bus station and met up with Alex, I had organized to stay with another local Elaine tonight - a friend of a good friend of mine. Alex dropped me off and I was welcomed into the Sabal house. Once again good was presented and we ate a sticky rice, sugar and coconut type dessert. For dinner they made a noodle and vegetable dish along with sweet potato and small sardines cured in vinegar and garlic. I don't usually eat noodles but as they were made specially for my visit I ate them and they were very nice - unfortunately they did give me a mean stomach ache and I am now sitting here nursing a food baby. I am very tired after today so hopefully get an early night tonight.
