Today I am off to Bohol to check out the Chocolate Hills and Asia's smallest primate the Tarsier.
My ferry is at 12:30pm and takes about 5 hours so I am hoping for calm seas.
Kim had some lawyer friends that had just moved house so before going to the ferry we went and visited them at their new place. Like Kim's place it was somewhat of a gated community with security and boom hates on entry, they were very friendly and cooked up some fried bananas for me - a very typical snack from these parts. It was a shame my ferry was at lunchtime as they were cooking up a huge feast of grilled fish and pig on the spit and throwing somewhat of a house warming party. We headed to the pier and luckily Kim was at hand to help - I had to buy a ticket at one pier, drive to another pier, pay a departure tax, catch a bus to another and then board my boat.
The ferry was quite large and everybody got their own bunk - some up on deck and some down below. I was down below and it was very nice and cool, I ate some lunch and then managed to get a couple of hours sleep.
Not to miss all the views of Bohol I went out on deck to take in some fresh air and take my first look at Bohol. Tropical Philippines is incredible and I can't wait to get onto the island.
My host in Tagbalarin - the city of Bohol : is a guy named Alex and he will be meeting me at the pier at about 5pm.
I arrived at Tagbalarin and met up with my host Alex, we then went and picked up another Couchsurfer named Lorenzo from Italy. He was also in need of a place so Alex offered to host him - incredibly kind and giving people these are. We dropped our things off and then headed to Alonsa a famous tourist beach. By now it was dark but we still got to enjoy the sunlit beach. We headed back into the city picked up a BBQ chicken and headed back to Alex's place. We met his Mum and Dad and they gave us some young coconut milk to try and wow so good, next came out the coconut wine omg in heaven. We sat around talking, laughing and enjoying each others company - another great day in my book.
