On the way to Costa Rica! After not a lot of sleep I was up early and trying to figure out a plan to where I might go today. I messaged my two Korean friends and checked they wanted to still do morning hike up the hill; luckily they didn't as they were now both feeling sick. Unfortunately I have woken up with a sore belly and repeated bursts to the toilet - probably from 3 days on the local rum. I thanked my host Rafa and then made my way to a plaza where I could take the Metro to the Bus Terminal/Shopping Mall. As I didn't have a card a kind lady let me use her Metro card and I was able to give her coins. The Metro here is cheap, fast, efficient and well designed (shame I figured this out on my last day here). In the bus terminal I found a few buses heading towards the Costa Rican boarder and decided to take the most direct bus to Changuinola leaving at 8pm and arriving at 6:30am. It was then time to head to the shopping mall to look for some shoes and possibly a new phone. The mall is beyond ginormous and it took me hours to go from one end to the other. For lunch I headed to the supermarket and on the way ran into my German friends Marion and Micah who were about to take a bus to Pedasi. Within the supermarket I found a nice cafeteria that was really busy (a good sign) so I decided to treat myself to a nice lunch of roast chicken and salad and preyed that my stomach had eased enough to accept the heavy lunch. After lunch I relaxed in the cafeteria before making my way back out into the mall to continue my search for a new phone. After deciding I will wait and do some more research about phone I headed back to supermarket to buy some supplies and stopped off at cafeteria again to get another serve of roast chicken to take with me on bus. The bus came pretty much on time and it was probably half full of tourist (quite expected). The bus was nice enough and after eating my chicken dinner I put my headphones in and managed to nod off to sleep.
