To Start A Website!!! I was up early again today - well I say early because I have had a lot of trouble sleeping here in Guyana so I eagerly await 7am so I can get out of bed. I have been contemplating starting my own website/blog after meeting Jonny from Dont Stop Living the other day. I also made contact with two other friends who make a living solely from their travel writing and got some great advice, tips and ideas. Basically I have a lot of the content I just need to stay put in a place a few weeks and setup and learn to use a blog engine like Wordpress.org - initially I will aim just to get readers/followers and document my wandering a and hopefully in the end maybe generate some income. Around mid morning I walked down to a little business district and organized my van trip down to Letham (Guyanese /Brazil boarder) the road is in a poor poor state and these vans take anywhere from one to two days to make the trip. There is a flight to Letham but at three times the price of the bus it's not even an option. I then had a wonder around the shops and brought myself another unique Guyanese cassava, coconut and jelly cake snack type thing along with some groceries to cook for my host Peter tonight. The heat was intense on the way back to Peters and after an hour of walking I felt like I had just ran a marathon. Peter had organized to come back a bit earlier today so that we could head out of the city on his motorcycle and check out the longest floating bridge in the world. Unfortunately when we arrived at the floating bridge the toll was closed so we couldn't get out to look at it, so instead we continued on to Gouyans house to feed her dogs. Today Peter had the key to the gate (at Gouyans) but upon unlocking the gate the dogs bolted and poor Peter had to chase all 5 of them down the road. Eventually he managed to catch one of them and drag it back to the house and the rest followed. The ride back to the city was fun and interesting again but to be honest I don't like being a passenger with all the hard braking and accelerating you get thrown around a lot. To thank Peter for his hospitality I made a dinner of chicken burgers which Peter was quite impressed with - Peter never cooks and literally has nothing to cook with in his house.
I said my goodbyes and Thankyou to Peter tonight as it would be unlikely I would see him tommorow before my van trip to Lethem at 6pm. Without a doubt Peter was one of the most normal people I have had the pleasure of staying with in last month or so and although I had trouble sleeping at his place I did feel the most relaxed.
