we are back in spain, the land of jamon sandwiches, people that bump into you on the street and dont apologize, and incredibly hot women. our current location is sevilla, a city known for bullfighting and tapas. our first five or six hours in sevilla were spent beeing lost, and then sleeping once we found our hostel. i dont really feel like reliving the night train ride from lisboa to sevilla, but lets just say that an afternoon nap was necessary.
once we got up from our nap, we hustled down to the lobby to go on a tapas tour that the hostel was taking us on. we went to several tapas bars around town, and we didnt really order anything to crazy except for one tapas plate of bull. it was actually really good.
after the tapas bar we went to a flamenco show, which is was held at a bar down the street. when we got to the show, there were four spaniards all sitting in chairs next to each other on the small stage. the first guy was the guitar player. the guy next to him sang, clapped, and stomped. the third guy in only clapped and stomped. and the last person was a woman who clapped, stomped, and danced. she would dance sporadically throughout each song, and then would go sit back down and clap and stomp. but when she danced, it was with such intensity and passion that i am pretty sure her day job is a dominatrix in the red light district. for the final song of the show the quartet became a quintet when a little girl went on stage and sat on the dancer's lap. the girl was probably about six, and was wearing a big t-shirt and pajama pants. for the first few mintues she only clapped and danced, but towards the end of the song she went to center stage and started doing the flamenco all by herself. she definitely brought the house down.
after the show we went to a couple bars, but there wasnt much going on so we went home. its still weird that going home early is leaving at 230 in the morning.
today we are going to the cathedral and the palace, which are the two main sightseeing attractions in town. the cathedral is the third largest in the world. the palace was home to several royal families, and is now a prime tourist attraction. i think we are going to go to da club tonight, but im not really sure where.
i gotta go, but my next post will most probably be from barcelona. it is our next stop, and a city i am really excited for.
