we have been in barcelona for three days now, but i have not been able to get on the computer much because there are only three computers in this hostel and 400 people staying here. barcelona reminds me more of washington than any other city we have been too. like d.c., its very touristy and it has all the shopping and sightseeing of a big city.
our first night out in barcelona we went to this club called pacha. it still amazes me how late people go out here. it was a monday night and this club was packed full of people when we left at like 5 in the morning. the club was pretty wild, with techno blaring and rediculuosly dressed people dancing all night. the guys here really dress pretty crazy, and i would feel like a huge a****** in just about anything they would wear.
our second day in spain we woke up at around 12, got bread and meat from the market, and then went walking around town. we pretty much go to the market every day for food because its much cheaper, and the restaurants in barcelona are mostly tourist ripoffs. we actually decided to go to a restaurant last night for a treat, and the place charged mike 5 euros for a coke. anyways, we started walking all around barcelona and eventually made it down to the beach. barcelona is on the mediteranean ocean, and has many cool beaches within walking distance to downtown.
yesterday we did some more sightseeing at la sagrada familia and park guell, two creations of antoni godi. he is a famous architecht and has buildings and houses all over town. his stuff is pretty unique, and in a style that is difficult to explain so im not gonna try. anyway we got pictures. last night at the suggestion of one of mikes brothers friends we went to this bar called la taberna. it felt like being back home because the bar was packed with american kids doing a semester abroad.
hopefully il be able to write more about barcelona later, because i need to go do laundry now before our flight to ibiza. adios
