Jus and Phil's Travels
Kroombit Cattle Station
12th - 13th August
Our first detour from the coast took us to a cattle station in the middle of nowhere! We had low expectations, however it turned out to be great fun! But first we had to get there, a 750km - 11 hour day on the bus. Our luck was in as we had a small friendly crowd (including Andy and Nadia from our Whitsunday trip) and our favourite driver so far, Frat - an outback raised lad, with a worrying passion for sexy cows!
Randomly, we stopped off en-route to stretch our legs, playing the most deadly sport in the world... Lawn Bowls!! It was good fun, but we were pathetic compared to our elderly hosts!
We arrived in Kroombit in time for roast dinner and by coincidence, Jus' friend Helen from Uni was on the overlapping North bound bus - a nice surprise. After learning how to crack a whip, everyone gathered around the mechanical bull for a "North vs South" battle! We were pleased to each survive a few bucks as some people were hurtled into the night sky on the first buck!
The following day, we continued our mini rodeo, where we lassooed and milked a goat and did some clay pidgeon shooting, before continuing on south to Hervey Bay - our stop off point for Fraser Island.
