Today was a nostalgia trip for Mick. We left at 8:00 and drove to Dongara for breakfast. Had a quick look at the marina at Port Denison then turned east. This morning we set off on our return journey. After a half hour delay because we couldn't shut the boot of the car, we left Denham and drove to Eagle Bluff. The boardwalk offers a marvellous view over the shallow waters. We saw a shark and three manta rays. Shark Bay is one of only a handful of special regions in the world to meet all criteria for World Heritage listing. Some of the marine life include the humpback and southern right whales, dugong, mantra rays, turtles and dolphins. Monkey Mia is in Shark Bay. We set off at 8:30 this morning and our first stop was Geraldton for breakfast. Geraldton is a large town on the coast and the only town of any size in the area. From there we continued along the main road but turned off at Northampton for Kalbarri where there is a national park. This moning we went to watch Josh participate in a swimming carnival for his school. I sat next to a lady who was a grandmother and got chatting only to discover that she used to live in Bicnacre before her family emigrated to Perth in the 50s.
