Well I have had an exhausting but fun weekend!! Have done so much walking it is ridiculous! Have also spent stupid amounts of money since I've arrived here. Friday night met up with my sister's work colleague and had a brilliant but surreal time. We went to the most random bars, one in an alleyway called St Jeromes, which did not look like a bar at all as it was just a fenced off part of the alleyway and only held 80 people but it was great and the music was really cool. We then went to what looked like an apartment building and got the lift to the 3rd floor which was a bar called Madame Brussels - apparently it used to be a brothel and there was fake grass on the floor and the barmen were dressed in tennis whites! Found out so much gossip about Neighbours as some of the guys used to go to school with the cast. Apparently Susan Kennedy is a lesbian in real life ! (that useless trivia is for you Gail!) Saturday a friend and I decided to go to St Kilda with the intention of sitting on the beach, it was really windy but we went anyway. St Kilda is pretty nice with lots of cool bars and cafes. Sat on the beach and watched the kite surfers which looks awesome but it gave me flashbacks of my encounter with the sea!! We then got back on the tram to Port Melbourne which was ok and then walked to Albert Park. We got completely lost, eventually found it and promptly left as we were knackered. Last night I went out again with the same guy as Friday and went to Chapel Street which is apparently great for shopping and bars. Went to several nice funky bars but we were both exhausted after the night before and was home by 1. Today was meant to be relaxing and the plan was to sit in a park and do nothing. I had to bright idea to go and see the BMX competition by the Docklands but after walking there we decided not to go in and then had another mission to walk to the Botanical Gardens, which actually turned about to be really pretty. Back at the hostel now gonna chill tonight and may actually be sociable in the hostel bar if I can form a sensible sentence. Tomorrow is Australia Day which I am really looking forward to!!!!!! xx
