Well I have been in Ko Phi Phi with Paula since Monday and I absolutely love it!!! It is the most beautiful island in Thailand by far (well based on those I have seen!) We were planning on visiting several parts of the island but have stayed at the same resort on the beach for the whole time as it is lovely and the beach is great. To get where we are staying on Long Beach from the main pier at Ton Sai you have to get a long boat as there are no roads on the islands which is great as it makes our beach much more secluded and away from the crowds. We have been so lucky with the weather as thunderstorms were predicted for the whole week but it has been so hot and sunny - much to Paula's delight. Yesterday we had a boat trip to the other island Ko Phi Phi Lei which is uninhabited and Maya beach is where the film 'The Beach' was filmed. Despite getting off to a bad start by my sunglasses falling into the sea and it looking stormy, the weather cleared and we had a wicked time. First of all we went to Monkey Island where would you believe Monkeys live!!! We then went snorkling and kayaking in a little bay which was so cool as the water was so clear and you can see all of the fishes. We then went to Maya Beach and they were playing the music from it on the boat as we arrived which was so cheesy but very appropriate! The actual beach was a bit disappointing as it was filled with tourists and not how I remember it in the film (although I haven't watched the film in years!) We then went exploring in the forest part of the island which was exactly like the film and very pretty. Watched the sunset from the boat which was so lovely and then headed back to Phi Phi Don for the full moon party celebrations. We watched a fire show at our beach which was brilliant. Came a bit too close for comfort when one of the balls of fire on a chain came hurtling towards me and landed next to my foot!!! They then had a ring of fire which I jumped through 4 times, 1 by choice and then 3 more so my sister could get a good photo of me but she failed miserably!!!! There were fireworks and they release paper lanterns filled with hot air (like a mini hot air balloon) into the sky and we lit floated candles and put them into the sea. Having a lazy day today and then off to Krabi tomorrow xx
