Well it has been an interesting few days!!!!! On our last full day in Salvador (Tuesday) we went to colourful Pelhourinho which was really cool! Had a wander around the cobbled streets at all of the artwork and little shops. The area is really pretty and all of the buildings are so interesting. There was capoeira in the streets which was great to watch but we felt a bit harrassed by the street sellers and didn´t feel particularly safe. Had a delicious dinner of fejoida which is a pork and bean dish and then watched some street performers with drums which was awesome. Salvador has a completely different feel compared to Rio and is more colourful and musical but a bit scary in places! The following day it was raining and so we went to the Mercado Modelo which is a pretty nice market and you can go up in an elevator and see views of the city. We left Salvador at 6ish and got a flight to Iguazu having to stop at Sao Paulo and finally arrived in Iguazu at 1.30am! Well that was when the fun started as both of our bags were not there and had apparently been left in Sao Paulo!!! We were given a bag filled with toiletrees etc and which also contained some huge pants which can only be described as a nappy!!! It was hilarious (well Paula didn´t think so!)
Today we went to see Iguazu falls on the Brazilian side which was just brilliant!! The falls were absolutely amazing and we had such a great time. Decided it would be a good idea to walk back through the National Park even though the bus had driven it in 50 minutes and after about 30 minutes of walking we gave up and got a cab back! Returned to the hotel to find that our bags which were meant to arrive at 2.30 were not there!! We went for a walk around the zoo which didn´t contain many animals but it was free so that was a bonus. Got back at 5 and still no bags so we decided to pop over to Paraguay!!!! We got a taxi to take us over the border to Cuidad del Este which was 15 minutes away and he agreed to do a 20 minute tour of the city!!! It was so much fun and great to see another country in South America although bit disappointed we didn´t get a stamp in our passports! Paraguay is pretty nice and very different from Brazil. 30 minutes later we were back in Brazil and we are meant to be going to Argentina tonight (3 countries in a day!) but we still don´t have our bags so we may have to stay here for the night. Feeling very stinky and in desperate need of a wash but hey I´m a traveller!! xx
