Footloose and carefree, what shall i do? The country is my oyster. It's a bewildering feeling.

I walked straight into the YHA travel centre in Sydney and booked myself on a flight to Cairns. There must be something fun to do up there - it's bound to be a damn site more cheerful than grey Canberra. Plan-less and un-prioritised! This is what it's all about - whims! And going off on them! Throw caution to the wind and put yourself at the mercy of the Gods! Do with me what you will!

I killed sometime round Sydney in the bookshops reading up about North Queensland and then took the train to the domestic airport for the three hour night flight. What an incredible flight. I spent the three hours with my nose pressed up against the window watching a perpetual thunder storm! It was so captivating seeing the flashes of colour and light - vast eerie clouds lit up for miles and miles. Wow, it rates in my top ten best sights!

So three states, three cities and over three thousand miles in one day. I'm tired but it's pretty cool being suddenly plonked in tropical Queensland all of sudden. Just need to find some work to fund the fun!
