This is it people the last ever Luce and Lisa travelling blog. Sadtimes.
As you all know we are in Singapore and have been here for the last 11 nights. Within this time we have pretty much seen all main attractions in Singapore and it is a very intersting and under appreciated city.
We arrived on thursday 14th booking into the Hangout hostel for 4 nights. As we arrived at night we got to see Singpoare in its true beauty which is definately lite up by night.
On our first day we walked the length of Orchard Road. This is the main road and had many shopping centres. Singapore has hundreds of shopping centres. It really is a shopping heaven! We also walked around Fort Canning Park.
On our second day we strolled around the lovely Little India with our friend Danni who we met in New Zealand. Here they had colourful markets and shops. We then mooched over to Arab Street which is a similar India quarter but has a stunning Sultan Mosque situated right at the end of the street. Unfortuentaly we werent aloud to go in as we were wrongly dressed in shorts and vests. We led onto Bugis junction which is a cool shopping centre.
We spent 2 nights at Emmas house an old colleague of Lisas. She lives in a condo in the east of the city. Again we mooched around the local shopping centre and markets and headed to the beach, to see all the working ships pulled up. The following day we hired a tandem to see the length of the beach front. This was hightly amusing experience and at first took us a while to coordinate but we soon got a rhythm going!! Along the way we saw a rare monkey in the trees of which the locals pointed out to us.
Heading back into the city. We checked out Chinatown, found a wicked smoothie place for only $2, walked around Marina Bay, Boat Quay (restaurant area around the river) Clarke Quay (another bigger eating area around the river) Sentosa (a current developing area with stunning beaches) the famous Merlion, Botanic Gardens, watched monks sing in the Tooth Relic Temple, had a henna tattoo on my hand, more shopping centres, the Esplande ( where locals/colleges perform in the theatre hall) ate very cheap chinesse food and found the amazing Fountain of Wealth.
The Fountain of Wealth was by far the hightlight of Singapore. By night Singapore is seen at its best and at 9pm we walked to the fountain to watch a fountain show. This is a massive fountain with streams of water flowing and a light show. Hard to describe but absoulety stunning. We also got to touch it and walk around 3 times while making a wish as its meant to bring luck.
We have been fortunate enough to stumble upon some amazing shows. In the Esplande we watched a college perform songs and dance. We watched another group dance in a shopping centre and last night we watched a Lion dance around Clarke Quay. This is the well known lion costume with men inside and then perform acrobatic tricks on poles while in the costumes. Abosutely amazing.
Last night we had our last we had our last meal along the river front at Boat Quay which was mint.
Today we are going on the Flyer which is like the london eye but even bigger before we depart for our flight.
I guess this is the foz signing out for the last time and hopefully catch up with everyone in the next couple of weeks. I will warn you now that unfortunately the tan has faded so im starting to go white again! Sadtimes!! ha!
Mum and Dad just like to thankyou both and if you get this before we arrive into Heathrow tomorrow please can you bring extra blankets as were not used to the cold weather!
