Hello Peeps!
Sorry for the delay of writing on this, havent quite yet grasped the concept of writing our details down yet as so much has been happening.
Firstly i need to appologise for the lack of photos on here. Me and the computer had a little mishap but were slowly working together and should have it sorted soon. So hold tight, as they will be coming soon!!
Secondly, for those of you who read Lisas blog i just want to clarify that the cable car was at a theme park made from a crappy piece of plastic and we were hoist thousands of metres up in the air! So i think i can justify my lil bit of scaredness!!!!
Anyways back to the good stuff. Hong Kong was interesting. We stayed on the island of Kowloon in the north east which is pretty much equivalent to Brixton in London (or Loz) so a bit dodgey! Hong Kong was extremely humid and very hot! Which is great if your spending your time on the beach or an air conditioned room but as we were sight seeing it was really hard going.
On our first day we braved the streets and made our way to the main road called Nathan Road. This pretty much runs from north to south and really is the main area within Kowloon. Off this road is Temple Street renound for its night market running from 6pm till 12pm, and sells clothes, bags, watches anything a normal market would sell. Another well known market in Ladies Market this again is very similar.
At the end of Temple Street is a Temple (ironically!!) of which has been used within some movies. This was very small on the inside and had loads of insense sticks of which is shown to the gods then meant to bring good luck.
We took a cruise around the harbour on the Star Ferry of which is the main form of transport to Hong Kong Island. This showed us the many islands surrounding.
We ventured to Hong Kong Island of which is a lot more modern. We went via tram to the peak to see the fernominal views of the bays. From here we took a sight seeing bus around the island to see Causeway Bay, the mian streets of the island and the convention centre where by stands a memorial of the handing over of the British of Hong Kong to the Chinese.
Back on Kowloon island we met a chinesse chappy called Victor, who took us to a local vegetarian restaurant. This was our first experience of sampling the noodles, rice and chinesse tea. I was lucky enough to sample some meat, not quite sure what meat it was but didnt taste too great!! Fun times!!
Theres a lot of poverty within Hong Kong, we found that a majority of people didnt speak any english and looked at us as if we were an alien species, of which in Lisas case this is quite true!!! ha!! In the southern area of Kowloon near the harbour there are many shopping centres with all designer outlets such as Louis Vuitton, Dior and of course my fav Chanel!! Whoop! Down here alot of rich chinesse worked and obviously shopped.
Alot of the time your would see old people rumaging through the bins looks for paper or cans to be recycled. Which was pretty hard hitting to see.
Overall, i would recommend Hong Kong for shopping for a few days but apart from that its just way to hot!!!
