Why hello all. Feels like its been ages since i last wrote a blog but i believe its only been a week! Since i last blogged in, we have done our Whitsundays sailing trip, visited Townsville and currently on Magnetic Island.
So then Whitsundays. We were on the Tonagrra Catarmaran and boarded on the Saturday at 2.15pm. After loading all important cargo of booze, we set sail. For a majority of the day we had a 3 hour sail to our destination for the evening. During that time we cracked open a few cans and laid back to enjoy the beautiful island surroundings. On the Whitsundays there are 74 islands in total. On our boat we had 21 people of which 5 of them were from Wolverhampton! However far i travel i still cant get away from yam yams!!! ha!!
During the evening we had a fresh fish supper with mash and salad then hit the goon for further drinking and games! We slept on the top of the deck which was wicked. The next day we didnt feel to great! Lisa was hungover BIG styley! Bless! They woke us up at 6am to head to White Haven beach. This was an island with loads of horseflys and i mean millions of the b*****s. We walked to the lookout of which you can see from the pictures is gorgeous. With its swirling sea patterns and many different coloured sands it was stunning. As we are now further north we are unable to go into the sea without stinger suits on, hence the wetsuits.
After this we had lunch then headed to a snorkeling destination. Here we saw the coral and loads of funky coral fish. Saw a massive fish called george and a black shark like fish. Saw loads of the coloured tropical styley fish which was awesome. We ate dinner and watched watched the sunset go down. That night we slept on deck again under the stars and i saw 2 shooting stars which was amazing.
The next day we woke up early again to snorkel and see further lovely fishes. We then sailed back into Airlie Beach. As you can see from the pics that night we hit the town and had free pizza and drinks with the peeps from our boat. Good times!
We then had another day at Airlie Beach so we sat around the man made lagoon. Had a cheap tuesday dominos pizza which was well good.
Nearly missing our bus as the kitchen wasnt open, we made our way to Townsville. City wise there isnt really much in Townsville. Theres an awesome free waterpark along the Strand which all the kids play at and obviously myself! Has well wicked little slides and jets of water spirting out everywhere. Well good fun! Had a mooch around a few shops and thats pretty much it. We stayed in really dodgey accommodation and lucky didnt get bitten by bed bugs, which we were surprised about as it really wasnt the nicest of places but had good pillows! Shared a room with our first french men, which we have named froggey and he was pretty cool to talk to. Also shared the room with a cowboy! Interesting chappy, that doesnt talk at all! Again good times! We also went to the cinema as there was nothing to do to see 'The invention of lying' with Ricky Gervais in. Bought a necklace from a nice boutique shop. Townsiville is a bit dodgey and really not the nicest of places, so it hasnt really been a highlight.
After spending 2 nights in Townsville we got the ferry over to Magnetic Island. At our resort was 2 swimming pools so we spent alot of time cooling off in the pools as its scorching up here now. As were in the tropics its really humid and constantly sunny. We stayed at Magnums and were situated on Geoffrey bay. On this bay you can walk to feed wolabeys of which we only saw one. All along the island are various bays so on our third day we hired a car with our roomey Stig and Mark. All the bays are within a 10 minute drive. Firstly we headed to Picnic bay to walk along the pier and look over towards Townsville. Then in Nelly bay you catch the ferry and theres a supermarket so had a little mooch around there. We then headed upwards to Horseshoe bay to have a sunbath and me and mark went on a doughnut which was awesome. Couldnt see a thing as the water was constantly flinging in my eyes, so much fun though and alot of screaming! We then checked out the stunning Florence bay and Radical bay which is where most of the locals go and you can understand why. We then headed back to Picnic bay to watch the sun set and saw a manity like creature within the waters. By us was Alma bay which we checked out on our last day. We were constantly seeing wildlife in our hostel area. Lisa some how liked attracting possums into the kitchen! Had our first coconut which had fallen from out of the tree. Took Lisa and Stig ages to try and prise away the first layer as the form you see it in the supermarket in just the shell and isnt how its formed on the tree. Its held within a fur like thick outer layer but once thats been removed then its easy to smashed the coconut shell on the floor to crack open.
We took the ferry from Magnetic island back over to Townsville yesterday being the (15th Dec) were now staying in far nicer accommodation. Last night we found a nice street over the bridge full of restaurants and was really lively. Tomorrow we leave for Misson Beach.
For now thats about it. Hope everyone is well and in a festive mood. Speak soon.
Lotsa love xX
