Hujambo (hullo) from Nic...
Picked up by Joshua, what a great driver with a great sense of humour and very knowledgeable. This leisurely day started at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for Orphaned Elephants where we were to meet our sponsored elephants, Surgut and Sities, however a little problem, they have recently been graduated and relocated to Tsavo East NP. The elephants we saw were absolutely beautiful. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for Orphaned Elephants is notably worthwhile for the wellbeing of the orphaned elephant and it's great to see our investment is going to a worthy cause.
From there to the Karen Blixen Museum, her famous book being Out of Africa which demonstrated her legacy to Kenya. She was well loved in Nairobi. We then went to the Karen Blixen Garden cafe for lunch in a lush garden setting, where we enjoyed a local Tusker ale.
After lunch we went to the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW) to see the endangered rothschild's giraffe, what an experience!!! The male giraffes were very docile, however the female giraffes were shy but "assertive". We hand fed the giraffes and it's amazing the length of their tongue, which by the way is blue. Timo got a little close and got a "big tonguie". As Laurel sponsors 2 baby elephants we were able to go back at 5pm to the elephant orphanage and watch them come in from the NP and have their bed-time feed, very special.
We returned to our hotel for a lovely Thai dinner followed by a few ales in the Long Bar. Later that evening we kuwakaribisha (welcomed) some wonderful friends, Elaine and Kevin who arrived from England.
Quote of the day - as seen on the back of a local bus "Some people feel the rain, others just get wet".

Barbara Hujambo from Kincumber, I can see your trip is a "must do"
Enid What a beautiful picture, a great blurb. Xx
Debbie Cockle What an experience, wonderful but not for me, I love the sea and I love Asia and South America. Next trip for my 65th is Vietnam, especially after reading Di Morresey's Monsoon and after Ann Margulis went there this year. Mia, Darren and the kids left yesterday for Vietnam. Their Vietnamese neighbour in Balmain booked a huge house with cook and Nani. Mia and Darren's neighbours are going too with their 3. Lachie wasmsomexcited yesterday, he said there will be 9 kids, including the 1/2 Vietnamese neighbour from Sydney will introduce them all to his cousins. It'll be a special trip. I think you've been there. I never have. ENJOY your holiday, it looks like you are
