Day 12 Friday 23/08/13 Lake Como > Verona 31deg Sunny -
John here...Friday morning in Como we explored the city and caught the finucular up to Brunato which looks over the lake and city. After a look around the main piazza in Como we then drove to Verona 142k which involved a toll of €11.20. Arrived at our hotel which was in an industrial area 4km from town but it was new and it was great. We agreed with Jen and Jon to meet in foyer and head to the main centre for an early dinner and then to the opera Rigoletto at the Arena. This experience was a gift from Jen and Jon and it was fantastic. The weather was warm and we found a local restaurant and booked it for 6.30pm, we then went exploring and found Juliet's balcony and all of the hoopla that goes with that, it seems the latest craze is to stick chewing gum on the wall with a message written on it. I can't quite figure out how you write on soft wet chewy gum! After the usual photos, watching the groping of the statue of Juliet, we went to dinner. After dinner we went to the Arena, we watched storm clouds gather. The opera started so did the rain, the opera stopped so did the rain, this continued, third time lucky start, which meant a late night. We got back to the hotel at 2am and crashed.
