Day 11 Thursday 22/08 Interlaken > Como 29deg Sunshine

Today a short 240km drive to meet Jen and Jon in Como. What a drive...such spectacular scenery, after leaving Interlaken we travelled for some klms alongside Lake Brienzersee with lots of little villages, then we started to climb the alps which were so majestic, some with snow, a number with pine forests, many waterfalls tumbling down, crossing rivers and creeks. What was amazing was to see glaciers that were so close to the road and they finished in blue/green lakes. In the valleys of lush greenery were cows all with their bells tinkling, such a wonderful assault on the senses, it was hard to take it all in. In climbing and ascending the alps we passed through over 40 tunnels, the Gotthard the longest at 17km. We then entered Italy and of course you see the villages on top of mountains, just love Italy. We found our way to La Rondine our B&B in Lake Como which is about 200 mtrs from the lake and very charming. After arriving in Como, while waiting for Jen and Jon to arrive we did some domestic chores, otherwise our jeans would have been walking by themselves!! We walked with Jen and Jon along the shore of Lake Como taking in the beauty and balmy evening to a restaurant overlooking the water and a simple meal of fresh fish, of course the night had to finish with an Italian gelato, which are always hard to beat!
