The first few days in Sydney:
Friday 18th April - Sunday 20th April 2008
Friday April 18th - Landed in Sydney this morning. Flew over on the new double-decker Singapore Airlines plane. The thing is huge yet so quiet when inside. Coming from Singaore the flight was half empty, so I managed to get a window seat and have 3 seats spare to lay out on which was great to get some kip whilst flying over. When flying into Sydney we flew directly over the city which was sweet, the sun was just rising and could see all the sights, a much more welcoming site when seeing the houses with pools outside rather than when flying into Manchester and seeing all the housing estates.
Once landed I went through all the necessary immgation checks which was a breeze real easy and the Australians were all friendly which was a nice welcoming. I met the dude that was picking me up who was sound we had a chat about alsorts. We also were picking up two other peeps who were grabbing a lift into the city, they were really cool too, and he had the same backpack as me I thought no way I didnt think anyone would have it. Crap!
Those guys jumped out and I was on my way to Coogee, and it started p!ssing it down. Not what I expected at all but I guess I have come over in their Autumn so I shouldve expected it. Never the less it did a juicy downpour then cleared. I booked myself into the hostel, directly on the beach which looked real nice, looking forward for when the heat pics up and can grab some raise.
So I'm checked in and down to the dorm and theres 4 peeps in there already, 3 of which I've become really good mates with 2 girls (doing the oz intro with me) n a guy who are sound. Got to know them and then hit the cafe for some grub. During the day just got to know the area and went for a walk with my roomies. That night went out with them got to know aload more people. Was introduced to the world of goon - basically a box of white wine that's lethal but good stuff. Learnt a few new drinking games along the way too which was all good.
Saturday 19th and the suns out woooop. Was slightly hungover so me & tom, one of the guys from the room, deciced to hit some waves to wake us up. If anything it made the headache worse, the power of the waves out here is immense we totally underestimated that hah but nevermind. During the day on Sat I met Simon, a mate from home, and we went to see the sights around Sydney and wonder around the city. That night we went out around Sydney that was good fun.
On Sunday the weather was crap so had a quiet day. During the evening met aload more peeps on the Oz Intro so we bonded and got to know each other and that sort of jazz.
