Hey guys sorry its been a while. I think the time i wrote on here i was in vietnem or possibly cambodia.
Well we have spent the last month really in Bali which was amazing. we stayed at a hotel/guest house called Suke Beach inn which was only 5 mins walk from kuta beach. Me and Joel got there to find a few of the lifeguards where there which we new from cornwall. so it was nice to see some friendly faces. the weather was really hot through out the day but sometimes in the evenings it would rain quite heavily. for once i didnt mind the rain as it was hot.
We spent alot of time looking around kuta. lots of locals trying to hussel u into there shops getting you to buy anything. saying that they sell it to you for Cheap Price. haha some of them ended up getting really anoyed with us as we just wanted to look and not buy.
In the Afternoon the Nightlife had become a party life. Clubs such as Bounty, Engin Room, Sky Garden where the main clubs and pubs to go. They would sell the strongest drinks iv ever tasted. They also had lots of fish bowls with differnt types of alcohol. really nice and quite cheap. usually didnt get back to the hotel till 6 in the morning on quite a few occasions.
Kuta beach we spent alot of time at. Met alot of the locals. As soon as u step onto the san they r immediatly trying to sell u surf boards, fruit, beach towels, head rests, massages, ornaments, bowanarrows, blow pipes and finally rings. they wont leave u alone and as we where a big group of 10 then we had most of them around us. it was funny at the start but really anoying towards the end.
While Nick, Jeanie and Annabel where down they took us on a really old bus to some of the surfing outlets. some of the outlets had a 75% disscount going. it was really good to see them. Jeanie took us out on another day trip around Bali to see the Monkey Forrest, Uluwato and Ubud.
the Monkey forrest was a classic, AS soon as we arrived there we had monkeys climbing on top of us. trying to take our cameras and glasses. they didnt seem to climb up the girls but they loves us lads. strange but hey.
Ubud market was cool. lots of fruit and ornaments to buy. they were seeling lots of fish and other types of really bad smalling animals if i remember correctly.
At the end of Nick, Jeanie and Annabels stay we decided to head to the other island for 2 nights called Nusa Lembongan. We got a Boat there which took 1 hour 30mins. and it dropped us straight on to the beach at nusa. there people where waiting for us to get off so they can offer us accomodation. we eneded up staying not far from where they dropped us off at this really nice place which over looked the sea and had really nice bungalows where we stayed in. while we where there the weather was good most of the time except for the last night. it eneded up raining quite hard and we heard there was a hurricane over the waters. it didnt last long though.
while we where there we went snorkling for 3 hours or so around the island. it was our first propper snorkling trip so far and it was really good. the visablity was amazing around 20 meters or more. the coral and fish where incredible.
2nd day we where there we went scuba diving for the day. it was really cheap to dive so we decided to give it a go. they ran us through the intro pretty quick andf before u no it we where in the water. we ended up diving down to 15 meters. the visablity was amazing yet again. we saw a kongar eel if thats how you spell it. we where down for 45 mins and had two diving sessions.Joel, annabel and cate didnt dive but they snorkled with us until they couldnt get down that far.
A couple of weeks into bali we wanted to hire out a 8 seater car to travel around bali in. it was a toyota 8 seater. it was really old and unfortunatly didnt have AC. not good. we piled our bags in the back leaving the smallest space for Lorna to sit. i did feel sorry for her. Joel was driving and cate and hayley where sat next to him sharing one seat. me dan and tan where saw in the middle.
our first stop was Lovine for 2 nights. it took around 3.5 hours to get there. the weather is stupidly hot on the way there and with no AC it was really hard to get comfy. Lovine was Different to Kuta. it was quite quiet and the beach was empty. we found some accomodation not far from the beach which had a really nice swimming pool. the rooms where good aswell. the bathrom was outside but it wasnt cold so it didnt matter.
On the 1st morning we booked to see the dolphins in the sea. we met the boat driver down ast the waters edge at about 6 am. it wasnt what we thought it was going to be. we had to drive quite far out to find there where already 60 other boats out there chasing the dolphins everytime they came to surface. after an hour or so we drove away from he big crowd of boats whcih was so much better. there where about a pod of 40 dolphins around us and everytime we got near me and joel tryed to jump in to swim with them. but they were having none of it.
We left Lovine on the second day and drove to Mount Batur which took us around 3 hours to find. we had to drive up the steepest mountain to get there and the car didnt like it. we ended nearly stalling a few times as the car couldnt survive so we all had to push it up. it ended up raining really badly and we all got soaking wet. the car nearly ran out of fuel but fortunatly we found some fuel on the side of the road which a family where selling. the didnt talk englsh so we just had to point to the fuel cans. quite funny at the time.
once we found a place t stay and settled in. we booked 3 tour guids to take us up mount batur which was a volcano that erupted in 1970. we left at 4 in the morning to be at the top of the volcano for sunrise. it took around 2 hours to get to the top to find that the weather was really bad. quite cold and really foggy. this was down to the wet season. at the top was a small cafe type thing. a younge group of lads where there before us and one of them had a guitar singing im yours from jason mraz. it was really good. we had a good sing along. when the sun had come up we still couldnt really see anything. the tour guid attempted to show us the volcano and the lava but we didnt realy see it until we made our way back down. there where monkeys at th top but they didnt want to come near us.
anyway that day we decided to drive back to kuta. we had enough i think of the car and wanted to hit up the beach again.
the girls left 2 days earlyier than us so we surfed nusa dua, bought a dvd player and tv, bought some dvds and chilled out as much as we could until we had to leave to go back to bangkok.
