Sadly it was departure day - after finishing our packing, a full cooked breakfast rather than our normal porridge and saying our goodbyes we headed off for a final game drive before going to Mana Pools airstrip.
The plane was already there when we arrived - they had come out with a spare pilot and engineer to fix another defunct plane on the ground - sadly they couldn't fix it so we had two additional passengers on the return trip - they would return tomorrow with spare parts.
We said our goodbyes to Doug and vowed to return in August 2018 to tour the other areas of Zimbabwe we have yet to visit - no better than to learn about a country than from a citizen and Doug was great company.
The trip to Harare was 90 minutes - check in took ages so we were glad we were able to use the business class queue due to our BA executive club membership - this enabled us to at least have a bite to eat and a coffee as we were a tad peckish.
Once in Johannesburg I had to do a bit of shopping - absence of 3 weeks meant I was in need of retail therapy. Therapy complete we went to the lounge where were thankfully able to have a shower - so we could remove the last of the bush - and relax before our 9pm flight.
