This morning we headed off in the vehicle first for a predator check - we looked for the wild dogs who we thought had moved their puppies due to the hyena presence - we found the tracks where they crossed the road but not them.
The lions were quiet overnight and remained elusive.
We parked the vehicle around 8am, had a mug of tea ( a rooibos teabag - not revolting but not great!), we then walked back to camp - with Humphrey retrieving the jeep later.
We saw the biggest elephant in the park and sat quietly while another - Tusker with uneven length tusks ate pods and walked feet from us - I took photos on 40mm he was so close - and he looked enormous when I was sitting on the ground! (Today's photo).
We had an early lunch, a nice relax and a siesta until 3.30 when we reconvened.
We left a little later as Doug wanted to GoPro the elephants eating the pods - positioning his GoPro in amongst the pods - we watched the Ellie neatly nibble around the GoPro without touching it - I am sure he will have great footage!
We then went looking for the dogs again - they were probably around as in a game rich area we saw '2 Impala and a warthog' - something must have spooked them.
We had a great walk nonetheless over and around an area covered by water in the wet season and watched egrets and yellow billed storks eating as the pan dried.
I went to bed listening to the heavy breathing of an elephant eating pods outside our tent - and then drinking, well slurping the water in the wash basin !
