It was forecast to be colder and wetter today and it was! It dawned dry and everyone hoped the weather forecast was wrong - sadly it wasn't and by the time we left it was raining, the cloud was low over the mountains and the wind was strengthening.
The rain didn't worry the sea otters who were still bobbing around on the ocean. We found Uno the bear with one ear and two cubs, last seen on our first day, they were walking along the shore line and stopping at berry patches to eat along the way. We also found a large male in another bay doing likewise, but the tide was dropping and he was more difficult to see as he wended his way up a slope and out of sight in the bushes.
Our finale were the two young bears we saw yesterday play fighting on the foreshore - they have not yet realised that they need to eat up and get fat for the winter - I am sure it will eventually dawn on them.
We returned to the lodge for a warm up and lunch - I decided to stay and catch up with my photos and keep warm - John went out for more maritime adventures! That said we had our own adventures in camp - I sat at the computer about to look at my emails - glanced outside and saw Rascal( now nicknamed the teenager from the other night) standing up at our lodge pulling my waders, which were hung outside through the bars then destroying them.
Angela tried to scare him off with small rockets and beating saucepans - even throwing them- but he ignored her endeavours and even chewed on one of the pans.....we then watched as he demolished the washing line (today's photo) patrolled the lodge, and chewed on the grizzly crossing sign at the front of the lodge!
Those of us who stayed back were pleased we had as it was an experience not to be missed and interesting to watch - we showed our photos to the rest when they returned - I took mine on my iPad as my cameras were in my room and I didn't fancy going back for them! Perry decided that he needs to take firmer measures to deter the bear so he doesn't become a real danger - next will be a rubber projectile to the butt - as Perry has personally experienced this due to being shot by an inexperienced caretaker he can vouch for its deterrence effect.
The positive news is the weather for the next three days should be 67-70 degrees - what a difference a day makes - hopefully!
