We spent 3 nights in Niagara Falls which is a cross between Las Vegas and Blackpool but with a phenomenal natural wonder on its doorstep. From the window of our room on the 33rd floor of the Hilton we could see in front of us the small US falls and to our right the much larger and more impressive Canadian Horseshoe falls.
Niagara is right on the U.S./ Canadian border so is full of both US and Canadian tourists along with many other Nationalities.
We watched tourists bedecked in blue ponchos on the Maid of the Mist (US) or red ponchos on the Hornblower (Canadian) heading up and down the river to get into the thick of the mist created by the falling cascades of water.
Noticeably at times the flow was faster than others - they divert some water to the hydro power plant at different times of the day.
Everyday except for our last we walked down to the falls and watched it and the tourists - the park does a great job in keeping the facilities superbly well maintained and free for all to use - the gardens are immaculate and really enhance it. They also put on light shows and fireworks which we watched both from ground level and our hotel room.
We won't visit again but I am glad we have seen them once - Victoria Falls are definitely more impressive and less commercialised......well done Africa you provide a better experience both on the Zambia and Zimbabwean sides.
