We prepared to leave the boat at 9.30 but due to changes to the flight - which we now know were weather induced - we left nearer 11am and were taken to the local hotel. Our luggage left us at 11pm last night as it was to be flown to Iqaluit on the early flight and would be put on our flight when we stopped for refueling. Again this was due to the weather as the flight couldn't carry people and luggage as it was weight restricted.
Here the saga began - after going Resolute airport we returned to the hotel because the aircraft, with the incoming passengers for the boat had a delayed takeoff.
We eventually left Resolute at 5 ish ( our plane is today's photo- I love the polar bear on the tail fin) and made Toronto just before midnight - thankfully before their 1230am noise curfew - phew. We were taken to the Sheraton and I soon had confirmed what the Captain had told me as we left the flight - our luggage was still in Resolute as the early flight hadn't flown due to a technical problem!
The Quark staff greeted us at the hotel and gave us toiletries to see us through the next day or so, we washed out our smalls and were set as best we could be for tomorrow. We could have survived in cold climates with our jackets etc but life in the 80 degrees of Ontario would be more challenging!
( We were finally reunited with our luggage two days later - at 1800 on Saturday in Niagara Falls - it was now supplemented by some necessary additions from quick shopping trips to the new outlets near Niagara and Walmart. With little room in our bags we also needed a new small suitcase to carry it in! )
