We woke up early and were able to watch a lovely sunrise (todays photo) with a dhow sailing by on its daily business......I could see 4 people on board and wondered what they were doing were they traders or fishermen.... It was warm not hot and there was no wind yet so I went for a long walk along the beach, a run was impossible as the tide was just turning and the the sand was too soft. Today was the day for fly camping - we opted to start with a walk - but this meant having our normal early morning tea and muffin at 5.45 and departing at 6.00. Change of plan today as one of the chef's mothers had died and he has, quite obviously,been given compassionate leave - so no fly camp today as you need a chef. So instead of fly camp we opted for a day trip ( a combined river and land safari) with a late start taking a picnic lunch with us instead of an early start taking breakfast. Today we opted for a 5.30 wake up call and wandered up the beach for a 5.45 tea and muffin before heading off into the bush for an early morning game drive - back for 0930, breakfast and a restful day until a 1700 canoe trip, in a traditional canoe along the brackish river at the side of the camp.
